This intervention is for a child who might feel they are under attack, even when they are very safe. Their brain activates ‘survival mode’. When some children are in a survival state, it takes over from their calm brain and they struggle to play well with friends; listen to what you are asking them to do; move from activity to activity; stay safe walking down the street or even eat their dinner. The child works alongside an adult, to complete a specific booklet that helps them to understand what is happening to their bodies and their mind, so that they can find new ways to communicate their strong emotions.
