Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a technique which involves noticing what is happening in the present moment (in your mind, body and surroundings) – without judging anything. By using various techniques to bring attention back to the present (usually focusing on your senses and breathing,) it aims to help children: become more self-aware; feel calmer and more able to choose how to respond to thoughts and feelings and have less negative emotion and anxiety. At Long Toft Primary, Mindfulness sessions are delivered three days a week to identified children, both in groups and 1:1. Children are regularly reviewed and monitored to check their progress and the support is tailored to each individual child.
